A Sneak Preview Of The Hector Trader Forex Training

By Terry Law

I took the Hector Trader Forex Trading Course because I am always on the lookout for new things I can learn about trading. In my opinion, there are always a few things you can pick up from people who are making a living at trading. Here are my thoughts on the Hector Trader course.

I first discovered Hector while searching for Forex trading blogs on the web. Hector's blog was well put together, concise, and reflected his full time profession as a Forex trader.

At first, his accent bothered me when I watched his videos. But his free videos do offer a lot of practical information and he stays on his point without wandering off on tangential subjects. His analysis of charts is both thorough and efficient.

Strangely, after a while, I really began to like his accent. I am not sure what his native language may be, perhaps Spanish, but he speaks English with a British accent. I think I like his double "o" catch phrase the best. I decided to sign up for the complete course and was amazed at the amount of information provided, including lot of videos. And I can watch them anytime, so I can learn at a pace that works best for me and my schedule.

His technique is simple, on the surface, but it takes time and effort to master just like any successful system. Hectors videos guide you through real-world situations to help you apply his simple system and master it. Be sure to back test his system as well.

The training course also includes written sections, which are well written and succinct. Sometimes trading articles are dull and dense, but Hector brings a sense of humor to the subject and makes it easy to understand. Even better, he includes the Metatrader indicators relevant to his system so that you do not have to hunt for them or hire someone to build them for you!

I have already used a key learning from the Hector Trader Forex Trading Course, which has affected three of my last winning trades in a positive way. After a break, a trader should wait for price to retest a level, putting him or her in a lower risk bracket than he or she would be otherwise.

Hectors course is well within the reach of most aspiring traders, and a great value for the price. I highly recommend this Forex Trading Course as a place to start or continue your trading education. - 23210

Knowing The Market Sentiment (Part I)

By Ahmad Hassam

How do you view the forex market is very important. Do you see it as a big mechanical matrix which is devoid of emotions? Most traders have a love hate relationship with the forex market. Most think that the market is either against them or for them.

At a particular moment in time, the market is emanating the emotions of currency speculators sitting on their trading desks or on their computers around the world. The truth is that forex market is just the compressed display of these emotions.

You should think of a market as a big living organism. Think that this organism is made up of millions of cells. Each cell is doing its own functions. Each cell also interacts with other cells of the body keeping the living organism alive and kicking around the clock.

Knowing what the market thinks at anyone time and how it thinks is crucial to your trading success. Forex market comprises millions of traders acting out their perceptions and emotions about the different currency pairs.

You need to know what the other participants are thinking. Ultimately, you as the trader are dealing with other traders out there whether they are big institutional players or an independent trader.

Market sentiment is the most important factor that drives the markets especially the currency markets and other financial markets. What is the market sentiment? Market sentiment is simply what the majority of the market participants are perceived to be thinking or feeling about the market at anyone time.

Traders tend to act based on what they feel and think of certain currencies regarding their strengths or weaknesses relative to other currencies. Market sentiment sums up to the overall dominating emotions of the market participants. It explains the current actions of the market as well as the future course of action.

One thing you should know is that market sentiment is not logical. It is primarily based on traders emotions. These emotions are one of the greatest factors in the determination of the currency exchange rate.

Market sentiment is like a fickle lover. It is capable of changing its mind based on new information that can upset the existing emotion. Market sentiment can be bearish, bullish or just plain confused.

If the majority of the market participants want to sell the currency, the market sentiment is deemed to be bearish. If the majority wants to buy that currency, the market sentiment is bullish. When most market participants are unsure of what to do at a particular moment, the sentiments end up being mixed up.

Understanding the current market sentiment and exploiting it with an appropriate trading strategy can help maximize your trading profits. If you can understand what the other traders are thinking and why the market is doing what it is doing, you will be in a better position to plan the entry and exit for your trade. In Part II of this article we will discuss what factors influence the market sentiment. - 23210

Can You Learn To Trade Like A Hedge Fund Manager? (Part II)

By Ahmad Hassam

You must have read Part I of how hedge fund managers trade forex. You need to understand that hedge fund managers are always on their nerves edge. They constantly look for strategies that work.

Hedge fund managers want to make good money while always on their guard if things go bad, how to get out of a bad position before it really hurts. You as individual investors also want to bet your own hard earned money in the hope of making capital gains.

You should decide whether you want to range trade or trend trade? Many hedge fund managers are trend following traders. If you want to become a trend trader than you need to become a master of predicting and anticipating trends in your favorite currency pairs. If you want to be a contrarian trader and range trade, than you should understand how to scalp.

You also need to decide the time frame that you will trade most. You should decide whether you will use the 5 min charts, 30 min charts, 4 hour charts , daily charts etc and why.

Will you only day trade or hold your position overnight? If you are doing a job, will you trade after hours? What time of trading best suits you? These things should be very clear in your mind before you start trading.

Learning the art of entry and exit is essential for your success. Should it be single entry, single exit? Should it be single entry, multiple exits? Should it be multiple entries, single exit? Should it be multiple entry, multiple exits?

You should learn money management principles in depth. It is good money management principles and their consistent application that will make you survive in the long run. Never ever try to put more than 3% of your equity at stake at one time. Understand how to calculate the reward/risk ratio for each trade. Never trade if the reward/risk ratio is below 3/1

Now, this is the time to take a test drive of the forex system that you have developed by back testing and forward testing. Back testing can be done on Metatrader and other platforms that are freely available online. Forward test your strategies on a demo account using live data.

Open a mini account and try to test it live with a small amount of money. This way you will not lose much money but will be playing against your emotions.

In the end, forex trading is all about developing discipline in yourself and controlling your emotions. You dont get this feeling in demo trading when you know nothing is at stake and you are under no stress of losing your hard earned money.

Get intimate with your strategies. There are two primary types of trading strategies"one that has a high percentage of profitable trades and one that has a high profit factor.

The key here is to know exactly what type of market environment your strategy performs well in and what type of market environment your strategy fails in, because only then will you know when it is time to pull the plug.

Understand how much drawdown you can afford on your trading account with this trading strategy. You can establish a bench mark figure using a back test. Decide before hand how much drawdown is acceptable before you pull the plug out of the trade.

The last step of thinking or trading like a hedge fund manager is self reflection on your past trading performance. Self reflection is very important. Most of the time we become so absorbed with trading that we do not notice the obvious and keep on repeating it again and again.

This is why it is good to spend some time on a weekly or monthly basis to self reflect on your past trading performance. You need to fix a certain level of pips per day for yourself and keep on tweaking your trading strategies until you reach that figure. - 23210

Macro Trading the Carry Trade

By Bruce Theil

If you are a global macro trader you trade anything and everything as long as you can find an exploitable edge. The majority of your trades are across asset classes trading stocks, bonds, commodities, and currencies. You are looking for uncorrelated returns from multiple asset classes.

They trade not only different asset classes but multiple strategies within each asset class. For instance in stocks they will trade outright long and short positions, merger arbitrage deals, asset class arbitrage where you trade the equity against debt, and even pairs trading. They do much of the same in commodities and currencies as well. Essentially they are looking for sources of return wherever they can find it.

One of the best places for macro traders to really differentiate themselves from other categories is in the currency carry trade. While most people understand what a directional bet is, one in which you buy or short something and if it goes up or down you make money, many do not understand carry.

The carry trade consists of going long a high yielding currency and going short a low yielding currency to fund the trade. You make money in two ways. One is if the initial trade is profitable if the higher yielding currency goes up relative to the low yielder. The other way to earn money is to make money off the carry, or the interest rate differential.

The carry trade is helped tremendously by the use of leverage. If you can earn four percent via the differential and then magnify that by four or five you will then bring your returns up to sixteen or twenty percent a year from the carry alone. If you juice it up ten times you will have a forty percent return. This sounds great on paper but it cant be that easy can it?

No, it is not that easy. If volatility picks up and the carry trade loses favor then the carry will not be enough to make up for the huge loss in capital on the directional side of the trade. If you use too much leverage you will go kaboom and lose all your money.

There are several ways to measure volatility. Some traders just look at several pairs and use an internal barometer of what is happening but most successful traders use at least some type of quantitative measure. We have the VIX which is used to look at equity volatility but happens to be a decent barometer of all volatility. There are also several newer currency volatility gauges like the JP Morgan currency volatility tools and the other investment banks volatility tools.

If you are global macro trader trading the currency carry trade then you need to be paying attention to volatility or eventually you will lose a lot of money. By focusing on the risk you will be in a far better position for the rewards. - 23210

Forex Automated Software Can Make You Money

By Jane Koloff

Currency Trading, ever wondered what that term means? Trillions of dollars are spent everyday around the world. We use it to buy the necessities in life like purchasing food, gas for our cars, utility bills as well as the money it takes to educate our children. As much as we would like to think otherwise, money has become one of the most important things to survive in the world we live in today. This being the case, there has to be a way to exchange our currency with the world, hence the term "currency trading" or as some call it, forex trading.

The largest financial market in the world not to mention the most liquid is the Forex Market. With the Forex market, you can literally trade 24 hours a day, seven days a week with currency from around the world. Now in order for you to be the most productive, you will need to invest in some good Forex Automated Software.

When trading forex you can greatly increase your profits by using forex automated software. With so many choices, finding the right forex software can be daunting. Since the competition is so great for this software, many companies are offering a demo version to test drive before you purchase your forex automated software.

Forex Software is available in two types and I have included some helpful information about both, desk-top and web-based software:

1. With the desktop-based forex software, the data used for trading is stored on your hard drive. With this option you will be responsible for security and technical issues that might arise with your personal computer. If you choose this type of software you will want to consider allocating a single computer for you forex trading.

2. With web-based forex software, the software provider will take care of the security for your trading data. The web-based forex software is more convenient since you do not have to downland anything and you will have access to your account as long as you have an internet connection. A drawback with web-based forex software is there is usually an annual or small monthly fee for account maintenance.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both types of forex software. When considering which software is right for you, take into account your daily schedule, how much you travel, trading style as well as the cost factors of each forex software. It does not matter which software you decide is right for you, they both offer a higher potential of profits by trading with forex automated software. - 23210
